StarTrekChatGuy: Do you have any opening comments for your fans Marina?
StarTrekLive:Hello to all my fans around the world. Especially to Gill in
Australia who threatened she'd come on line and talk to me. It's great to be doing
this.
StarTrekChatGuy: Here is our first question!
Question: Ms. Sirtis, when do you begin shooting Star Trek Nemesis? And is
it true you have a lot more to do in this movie?
StarTrekLive: Principal photography started yesterday. I'm not involved until December 3rd,. I am much more integral to the plot this time.
Question: Why was there such a long wait between Insurrection and Nemesis?
StarTrekLive: Basically it was just trying to get all 7 of us available at the same time. As simple as that. With 7 actors who've gone on to do other
things, it's kind of
hard to pin them down. So basically t his is the earliest we
could all be together.
Question: Hi Marina I read somewhere that you and your husband have or had a southwestern restaurant. How is that going? and if this is correct what's it called?
StarTrekLive: It is correct. It's called Casa Coyotes and it's tex-mex. It's in Lake Arrowhead which is about an hour and a half outside of Los Angeles and it's selling very well. So I'm knocking on wood as we speak.
Question:Greetings Marina From Cape Cod Mass:
Question:Do you have any future projects in the works besides Nemesis? like T.V.series , other movies, audio books, or stage?
StarTrekLive: Well, I will possibly be doing some theater in the
Pennsylvania area next summer. Not definate, but a possibility. And I did shoot a movie this year that was supposed to be coming out soon, however, I think it probably has too many explosions to be politicall correct at this point. So they are probably going to sit on it. The title was Peace Virus so
StarTrekLive: with the whole anthrax thing going on that probably isn't acceptable either. Of course they could change the title of the film. So there was stuff coming on out but it's on hold, so we'll see.
Question: Would you happen to know how many (if any) more Star Trek: The Next Generation movies? By the way, you look good, do you work out?
StarTrekLive: Thank you so much. Well, we really don't know about anymore Next Gen movies. We have a deal for the first three. So we had to do three. But every movie now, in the future has to be negotiated separately. It's going to be, I think difficult to get us all together. So I'm not sure there will be another movie with all of us in it. I don't know. It's all up in the air right now. And I don't think anyone is thinking about
StarTrekLive: future movies. THey are just concentrating on the ones right now. As far as staying in shape, I work out. I hate it but I do it.
Question:Marina,will there be another movie and will you and NO1 get together?
StarTrekLive:I can't tell you. I can't! I have been sworn to secrecy. In fact I talked into the movie publicist today and she threatened me if I divulged anything and I'm sure he's on line checking on me, making sure I don't give away any secrets.
Question:Hi Marina...my name is Kate. I loved your character from Star Trek: TNG. I was happy to see that you revised your character in the Voyager series. Anyways, my question is this. Did you like the sci-fi genre before or after your part in Star Trek?
StarTrekLive:To be honest, I really wasn't a big sci-fi fan before I got involved with Star Trek. But now, whether it's osmosis or something else, I do quite like science fiction.
Question:What are your hobbies?
StarTrekLive:Oh, gosh. Well my animals. I have two dogs, five cats. I feed a skunk and a family of three racoons and I'm sure my neighbors get really annoyed about. I read a lot. I'm addicted to cross word puzzles. Working out takes up a lot of time. And the rest of my life is just being a
housewife. I like to do that girly stuff. Like cook and iron... not so much clean. The other stuff.
Question: Do you have a web site ?
StarTrekLive: I do have a website, finally. It's marinasirtis.tv. I have to admit I actually don't have a computer but I will be getting one tomorrow.
Question: Will you be hiding little Skilaki from Brent when you starting shooting the next movie?
StarTrekLive: Yes I will not be entrusting my baby to Uncle Brent ever again.For those who don't know the story, I had entrusted Skilakito Brent one day and came back to the trailer finding Brentn putting Skilaki into the microwave.
Question: Do you see any of the cast members from the show?
StarTrekLive: We are all still best friends which I think is probably unique in Hollywood because we've known each other now for 14 years. Michael Dorn is my best friend and the others I see often and we speak on the phone all the time. We've remained very, very close.
Question: Who was your favorite leading man Michael Dorn or jonathan Frakes.
StarTrekLive: Oh gosh! Well I'm going to answer this as Deanna Troi and not Marina Sirtis and just say that Deanna preferred Rikler.
Question: Hi Ms. Sirtis. Erm, I heard of some sort of crossover, between the TV-adaptation of "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" (no idea what that is actually) and Gargoyles being in the works - is there any truth about that??? If so, is there a release-date yet?
StarTrekLive: I have not had heard about this at all. So I have no information.
Question: Ms. Sirtis, you've said that D. Troi is going to have a wig in ST : Nemesis, that your hairdresser described as "fierce" - do we have to be scared? ;)
StarTrekLive: Oh, no. In fact Deanna has always worn a wig of some kind or another. I think this time it's going to be more contemporary and not quite so country and western.
Question: Do you know of any plans of a Voyager movie?
StarTrekLive: I do not. Of course if there's a Voyager movie that means there won't be any Next Gen movie so I"m not quite sure I approve of that, but I'm sure their turn will come one day.
Question:Do you think this movie will live up to the odd numbered Trek films?
StarTrekLive: Well actually it's an even number this time. The odd number was the last one, "Insurrection" so if we stay true to form, this should be a good movie because it's an even number.
Question: There are talks about Troi getting a new outfit for ST X, too - can you say anything about that???
StarTrekLive: Okay first of all we're not calling it Star Trek 10, we're calling it Star Trek: Nemesis. Well, I can't really tell you without giving away a plot line, but yes, I do have some new clothes.
Question: Marina did you enjoy playing your character and was there any simillarities to your personality?
StarTrekLive: Well I really loved playing Deanna and when we started, I thought we were total opposites because she's much -- Deanna is much sweeter than Marina and more understanding and less tempremental and all the good things. However, as time progressed and we got into the movies I think that there was a lot more Marina in Deanna. Especially in scenes like the drunk bar scene in Star Trek: First Contact.
Question: And is it true, that you are planning to play Maria Callas(!), in a multi-national production that is supposed to start shooting as soon as next summer???
StarTrekLive: Oh gosh, no. There has been talk of a Greek director Costa Gabras directing a movie of her life. He has no plans to use me in this movie. However, I would love to play Maria Callas and possibly one day make a TV movie of her life that I could star in.
Question: do fans still aproach the former stars of the shows and call them by character names?
StarTrekLive: All the time. And it's really annoying. However, I feel sometime at least they recognize us even if they can't remember our real names.
Question: Did you enjoy the series or was it just another acting job?
StarTrekLive:Oh no. It was the best 7 years of my life. I was working with people I love and admired and we got on so well that we basically laughed for 7 years. It could never have been just another job. It kind of turned out to be "the" job.
Question: How much do you credit Gene Roddenbury for your career?
StarTrekLive:Well Gene Roddenberry discovered me. I had 6 auditions when they were casting Next Gen and I always knew he was rooting for me and that it was some of the other people in the room that I had to convince and after I was cast, he and Majel kind of adopted me and I became one of the Roddenberry family.
Question: Marina how come you really didn't do anymore singing after euro rocky horror?
StarTrekLive: Oh because I'm not that good of a singer. There are people who sing much better than me, that's why!
Question: You have appeared in several episodes of Voyager, what was that like for you?
StarTrekLive:Well it was kind of -- it was weird because apart from one episode where I worked with Bob Picardo I really never go to work with any of the Voyager cast. So it was just me and Dwight Schultz and it felt like I was doing Next Gen to be
honest. It was surreal. I felt like I had gone back in time
and I was back in uniform on my set.
Question:Ms Sirtis. Can you tell me which episoed of TNG was your fav and why? Thank you!
StarTrekLive: I really can't put my finger on one episode. There were so many that I really loved.I'm not going to state the obvious and say one of the episodes that I was in the most. There were two that spring to mind that I thought were really wonderful Star Trek stories. One was "The Offspring" and the other was "Measure of a Man.
Question: Hello and Happy Thanksgiving from Florida! Are you going to appear in any conventions anytime soon?
StarTrekLive:I don't have any conventions booked in America at this point. But I'm sure that could change at any minute.
Question: is it true you were suposed to guest star in deep space 9?
StarTrekLive:No, I was never asked to be a guest star on Deep Space Nine, so that was never an opportunity for me.
Question:have you seen new series ? do you like it?
StarTrekLive:I really like the new Enterprise series. I think it was very clever of them to go back in time and deal with the beginnings of Star Trek, so to speak. I think all the actors are talented and the characters are interesting. And I see a great future for it.
Question: Marina, if you had been given the chance to write a TNG episode,what would it have been about?
StarTrekLive: Well, I would have made me Admiral and I would leave Picard as a Captain. So I would have seniority and I would ask his advice and then I would ignore it like he did to me for 7 years.
Question: Do you prefer flexibility and spritual stuff like yoga or do you go for the traditional treadmill ?
StarTrekLive: I do a combination of things. I do spinning, I do pilates and I weight train. And I think that's quite enough for anybody.
Question:Marina, are the rumors that your character and Commander Riker getting married in future star trek movies true? will we see more romantic interaction between the two characters in the upcoming movie?
StarTrekLive:Would you stop with the romance questions!! I'm not telling!
StarTrekChatGuy: Marina, what you are thankful for this holiday season?
StarTrekLive:So many things. I'm really truly blessed in my life. I have a wonderful husband. I have wonderful animals. I have the best friends on the planet. I'm working with my best friend right now and going to have a great time the next three months. My family are all healthy and happy and I've lost all the weight I need to lose to get back in my space suit.
